‘I stayed at Le Chateau de Minargent in July 2018.  I was fortunate enough to celebrate my 40th birthday in the most beautiful surrounding of the Chateau with 16 of my closest friends.  Our stay was absolutely out of this world, it exceeded all expectations and then some.  From booking until the the day we left Aulnay the process was streamline and faultless.

Our first glimpse of the Chateau on arrival was breathtaking, as we turned in to the beautiful quaint little town of Aulnay, we were greeted with the most amazing stand alone structure which would be our home for the week, Chateau de Minargent.

From that moment the week only got better, we were met by the lovely house sitters Emma and Ross, who showed us around the workings of the Chateau.  Emma and Ross catered for our every whim over the course of the week and had our pre ordered shopping list purchased and available for our arrival, such a lovely and accommodating family who were on hand to answer any questions we had.

The detail and decoration both in and out the Chateau was amazing, and made it all the more special, from the very grand dining room to the tiny little fairies that greeted you in every subtle corner.  So much thought has gone into every detail just adding to the story of this amazing place.

The views were breathtaking, and only a short stroll to the town square meaning just a short walk back to our very own pool in the Chateau grounds.

Thank you for such an amazing holiday & for making my 40th birthday so special it’s not often you find somewhere to host large groups in such luxury.  It certainly is a holiday none of us will ever forget, I can’t wait for my next visit.

Chateau de Minargent you are simply stunning.’

‘What an amazing place! A group of 8 of us stayed at the chateau in September 2018. The photographs do not do this place justice, I defy anyone to enter the huge double doors and not say “wow!”

It is beautifully decorated throughout with huge spacious rooms, we loved our stay just lazing around the pool, in and out of the jacuzzi, sipping wine & eating cheese! The entertainment terrace along with pool table & boules court mean you don’t even need to leave the place – perfect for a relaxed holiday in a fantastic setting. You have to watch the sunset from the top floor, spectacular!

This was our second stay and we absolutely love the place, we shall be returning soon!’

  1. We were very lucky to spend time at this amazing château. It is very well situated to explore the surrounding area with its châteaux and rolling countryside. The château itself is a joy to stay in. Each room is beautifully decorated and furnished to a very high standard. You have the old world charm of this grand mansion but all the modern luxuries of en suite bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, a huge swimming pool and a lovely garden to sit in.
If you get the chance to visit this gem, take it!

    1. Our family has just spent an amazing week in this truly wonderful Château. Everything about our trip was perfect – the region is easy to get to by car, train or plane. The surrounding area is beautiful and a lot to see and do ( walking, kayaking, velo-rail, cycling) but just wandering by foot into Aulnay, having a glass of wine at the local bar and observing French life is also a must! The hardest part of the trip was dragging ourselves out of this beautiful chateau as it is so nice we didn’t want to leave!! The pool area is fabulous with lots to entertain both adults and older and younger children – our children all loved playing pool in the summer house, playing pétanque, basketball and playing in the beautiful shaded garden. Inside, every last detail has been thought of: the furnishings are a beautiful mix of Classical Brit/French with the Asian influence throughout – simply wonderful! Whilst the house looks formal and pristine it has been designed with comfort in mind and very easy and relaxing to stay in, even with children. The sunsets every night on the terrace were really spectacular. I am already planning my next trip to this peaceful and stunning place and would highly recommend it!

  2. We had an amazing fortnight at the Chateau in September 2022 celebrating my partners 60th birthday, all be it a year late. The place met everyone’s needs. Week one there were 16 of us, us and youngsters age 16-34. The second week was the over 50’s and was more relaxed and chilled.
We played snooker, pool, swam, played boules, they used the amazingly well equipped gym, ran on the quiet roads, reading on the loungers and had such fun! No one was ever bored.
The kitchen was used fully utilised, fabulous big fridge and freezer space, with some amazing meals cooked by groups of 4-5 taking on different themes each night. We ate outside half the time and in the beautiful dining room otherwise.
We never did work out the order for the bakers opening but we managed fresh bread, pain au chocolate, almond croissants everyday.
The town is a good wander, the bikes are good for a short ride to the Intermarche. There are several hidden gems in the town, we ate at the restaurant over the road, Le Relais d’Aulnay, each week. It has lovely outdoor space to sit and rink or eat. In the town go through the Bistro out the back to the outdoor bar and games room. There Alain (with his immaculate Mini in the garage) will make you welcome. Through the Tabac there is a courtyard garden where they serve drinks and food and the Tabac does a great coffee.
We had a day out on Ile de Re each week, 1 1/4 hours and straight on the beach with a wander round the main town in the afternoon. Paddleboarding in the sea and another great place was on the river in Saint Jean d’Angley, only 20 minutes down the road.
The sunset was spectacular in the evening whilst we ate and drank copious amounts of French wine and beer. Chateau de Minargent we miss you!

  3. Wow, what a place! I love what Lisa and Stuart have done with the Chateau. It’s an amazing old building with all the mod cons, lovely pool, pool bar, snooker room, gym, cinema room – the list goes on. So much space to chill and relax in, we had 16 people there and at times you had no idea where some were. The family were still talking g about 2 weeks after we got home. Thank you for making our stay so easy and pleasurable. We will be back one day.
